A saint in my heart- Grandma

It was about one week ago, I can clearly recalled that early morning, while preparing for an early class. After my morning bath, my phone rang. It was my mother the caller is. Tears…

4 hours for two continues classes, my heart wasn’t in class at all. After class, rushed back home, checked online and decided on flight to go back home. It was an evening flight, still will arrive earlier than coach. Thanks to my boyfriend, drive me to the MasWing travel agency, purchasing my ticket.

Direct headed to uncle’s house to meet other relatives and have dinner there. Reporting shoes number, grabbing shirts for me and my other siblings and nieces as needed for the ceremonies at the next day.

Another day of early morning, Saturday. We went for a mass offered for her.  That afternoon at the mortuary, I burst my tears. Having to see the kind-hearted, loving and such a nice woman is to be moved into the coffin. I remembered at that moment, I walked slowly near the coffin before they close it, looking into it, I saw a beautiful woman lying peacefully in it. Of course, how can I control myself not to touch the glass and cried for ‘ngiema’ (grandma in Foochow).

Sunday, the day where the close-coffin ceremony will held before sent to church for service. Another heartbroken moment, because, after that, her body will be buried forever. That morning, I am the 2nd reader of the service; at least grandma can hear my read up there while lying in the coffin.

Having departed to the cemetery after service and photo session in front of St. Mary Church. It was a rainy day, very heavy. All of the children, grandchildren waited in bus when reaching at the cemetery. Pouring, just as tears in our heart, nonstop flowing. Waited for about 40 minutes, we headed to grandpa’s tomb, to get grandma united with him again.

Like my sister said, we only have the memory with the smiley and beautiful face of our beloved grandma. She has no temper, so loving, so kind, so mollycoddle to her family. Having more than 100 children and grandchildren and great grandchildren, she never miss anyone nor neglected anyone. Her praises, her hands holding my hands, everything…. No matter how much have she suffered in this world before, at least I know she is now united with Jesus Christ. I prayed, ‘Jesus, please hold my grandma’s hand to find my grandpa oo’.

This morning in church, when I saw old folks, I start controlling my tears again. I really really really miss grandma. Ngiema, I love you.

    Existing of EVIL

Why does God allow evil to exist in our world? I believe the age-old question played in a lot of heads. Answer is, if there was no suffering or evil throughout the history of the world, there would be no instances of loving goodness in action against that evil. This world of ours would not exist if heaven was the only possible world. Since everyone thinks, and no one thinks only pure thoughts, God would be pretty busy, and we wouldn’t be able to think for ourselves.

The mystery is resolved by the fact that love-in-action is more important than words. Some moral acts just could not be performed in a world that had no suffering and evil. It’s one thing to tell someone you love them and would do anything for them; even after they’ve grown old and senile. This furthers the cause of goodness in our world and defeats a little bit of evil. In it, we are making others aware of God’s example, showing them that God is instructing us in love and enabling us to be agents of goodness against evil.

    My holiday?

How’s my holiday? Well, wedding lunch reception of my 3rd sister kept me busy for the first 2 weeks after coming back home from Miri in November. Planning with my other siblings for the visitors from Kuala Lumpur, accommodation, transportation, etc… Few days after the event, both my mum and I flew to Singapore to visit my siblings as well as the new born niece, Princess Roxanne there before we move on to Kuala Lumpur for my sister’s wedding ceremony there.

Being there for 4 days, we (my familia) do enjoyed a lot of shopping, except me, having fever for the first 2 days, rest more in hotel rather  hanging around with my family. Luckily I was able to attend the rehearsal (I was the bride’s maid) as well as the ceremony of coz. What’s interesting is that, most of my brother in law’s relatives are coming from overseas, the UK, US, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, Ireland and … So, indeed it was a grand ceremony.

After the Kuala Lumpur trip, my mother and I flew back to Singapore (not Sibu yet). Hmm, not sure is it because I did not spend any in Kuala Lumpur for shopping that makes me out of my mind. I spent SGD 200+ once in an expo sale just for mine, not including other shoppings. Yeah…

Spent a day in a country club in Singapore with my amigo familia (beloved family in Spanish) during New Year. 2 of my nieces enjoyed the most that day with my 2 brother in law, spent whole afternoon in Wild Wild Wet, a water fun park.

Came back last weekend and rush to Miri with my boyfriend again the next day to attend my friend’s birthday party the next day. Having lots of great moment as well with my beloved of course. Thanks him for being my driver those few days. Thanks dear!

Now relaxing at home, just pulled down all the Christmas decorations this afternoon and ready for the Chinese New Year. Yup, from green and colorful to red and shinny. Not in the mood actually as all sisters are not coming back this year, luckily brother is. Looking forward for next year, hope all of them can make it. Gonna miss them.

    Senadin

What a week I have been going through. On Thursday afternoon, when I am preparing myself to go for my next class, I received a message from my housemate informing me that few pieces of our garments drying under the sun outside our house were stolen. The most lost of all of us is me. I was so shocked when I received the piece of information. Feel so frustrated with the news as well.

After class, I proceed to know more on the case from my housemate, not sure about how many lost occurred until I get back home and find out. Approximately RM 150 for mine. Haiz. .

That is not the end of the story, when the night falls on the same day, about 11 or later, raining I still can remember. I went to my room while my roommate slept already, trying to pull off the curtain to let a better air flow; I saw a hole on the mosquitoes’ net on the window. My first reaction was shock and scared. It was a human being deed for sure. Knowing what was happened, 4 of us unable to sleep and my housemate actually said that I have been having a nightmare that night.

The next morning, having no class for whole day, together with my boyfriend, I spent around RM60 to upgrade the security system for our house. Luckily I had him for opinions and to help me install the lock for the door as well. Feel sorry for parents too for being so nervous once they heard the news.

    The cut

    Double lock

Stronger chain and lock for gate.

    Double lock at the back

What we can do, we already did, the rest we can do is to pray to God, God bless. Smile

My 2nd time celebration of birthday in Miri- my 19th birthday. It was really an unexpected surprise from my friends to celebrate it 3 days earlier.
Moving on to Pong's Cafe which I thought it was just an ordinary friends gathering dinner, after being keep on eating and eating, full enough for me not been able to stand straight, a thick and nice birthday cake, with one larger candle and 9 little candles appeared togethr with the sweet and beautiful birthday melody from them. Comes together with a gift from all of them, 2 cards from friends and one from boyfriend (self made one oo). Surprisingly, another little gift from Pong's Cafe, haha. Same as before, I'm much curious with the content of the cards rather than the gift, still I love all of those.

    Raining and recalling of childhood

It may sounds silly and childish, somehow it is a healthy exercise by acting crazily. Raining it was just now, 3 of us, Mei Mei, Tien Tien and I folded some paper boats and set them off outside our house.
It's been long enough I did not fold paper boat, failed for few times, finally, comes out with the most ugly but ok la, hehe. At least they still can float. Here they are, 3 silly and crazy girls, playing in the rain. Hahaha..

Curtin Carnival and Fr Stan Concert

Curtin Carnival it was today. Being part of the Catholic Students Society, feeling great for being able to help out during the carnival. Compared to previous Curtin Open Day 2008, it is obviously decreasing of numbers of people. But still praise to the Lord CSS made it to get the first prize for the enviromental project and the top selling coupons as well. Somehow I really feel the abundant of blessings from Him to CSS. Thank You!!

    My first Brunei Trip

It has been decades I did not post any blog, upload any photo. Back to university life, though this is just the 4th week, I started to have assignment due within the week, tired and stress.
What a blessing for planning a great trip for us to Brunei. Together with my CSS family, departing in the morning of Saturday, reaching Bandar Seri Begawan in 2 hours. Chit chatting a lot in car with Aylwin, Brandon, Anthea and Tien. Took a lot of pictures along the way (check my latest album out!). Our first stop, Excapade Sushi!!
    Excapade Sushi

Oh yeah, sushi (but I cannot take sushi, not my favourite either) Check out what have I take:

Maki and beefSnowfish deep fried with black pepperParty set

For 20 CSS family members, we actually spent about B$400++, which is equal to RM900++. Huh, once in a while, ok la..hehe

After filling our stomach full enough, we went to the biggest shopping complex in Brunei - The Mall.
Bought a lot of chocolate there, for parents, aunts and for friends.
After doing all the shopping, we proceeded to the church. A warm welcome by the youths, priest and the people there. Having a birthday celebration as well with Rev Father Paul Shie, we had another great meal there.
After mass on the next day, guided by the youths, went for breakfast (for free, sponsored by Fr Paul, hehe). Went for a walk at Seria Plaza and went to our last stop before going back to Miri- Supa Save, yup, not super save. Bought more chcolate here, haiz... I know..
It's really a trip, I spent a lot as well just for shopping, at last, I did not manage to get anything for myself. Still, I enjoyed very much. We are all free from stress, pressure and the word 'study'. Hopefully we shall have more of these kind of trips, if finance allowed. God bless all of us for the smooth trip.

    Love and Marriage

I have been participating in a workshop yesterday organized by the only club I join in Curtin, Catholic Student Society (CSS). Theme is Christian Love for Dummies.

After listened to the talk, I really understand much on love and marriage. Just before the workshop, I only know a bit about love, know how simple love could be, but not after the workshop.

    Kinds of Love:

    1. Agape Love ------Love for everyone which is the basic love before the other kinds of love

    2. Friendship love----Love for friends

    3. Sexual Love-------Love for your spouse

FOUNDATION of these loves is God's love.

    Clues

    Real Love

    Lust only

    Major attractions?

    Total personalities

    Physically

    How many attractions?

    Many or most

    Few, appealing

    How did it start?

    Starts slowly

    Fast

    Consist to your interest?

    Warm and tender

    Hot and cold

    Affect your personality?

Bring out the best of you

    Disorganizing effect

How do you see each other?

The beloved is the most important person

    Whole ‘universe’

    Time and distance kill

    Quarrel affects romance?

    Less and lesser quarrel

    Quarrel often

    Refer to your relationship?

    Yourself as unit

Marriage is a blessing from God, it is a sacrament.

    Preview into marriage:

    1. Soul

    2. Sacrament

    3. Service

    4. Sacrifice

    5. Symphony

Love and marriage can never be explained. It is pure and beautiful, for marriage also means “to hold the hand of your spouse to walk together with you to the house of God”. I like this very much that I really can imagine how sweet marriage is.

    Mother I Love You

This is the second year not to celebrate Mother's Day with my mother on the exact day. Recalling last year, been the first time knowing that all the children of her were not aside to celebrate the beautiful day with her, I really feel heartache instead. Indeed, cried in front of my good friends.
People said, a baby or a child is the greatest gift from heaven. For me, a mother is the greatest blessing from God. Besides, my mother is one of those who have taken the risk to let me come to this world at quite an age. Confessing I am not a good daughter indeed but never shall I fail to keep my mother and my family in all my prayers. Staying away from home will never ever be the reason my love to her will faken, but it shall grow stronger and stronger.
I love Red heart you mum and thank you for everything, everything. God bless my mother!!

    Buddies in my life

Recently, I have realize that I have grown a lot mature within the one year since I leave my home. During the begining of the semester, I looked at those new students, recalling me of the day when I first step into this campus. Felt weird as I did not feel afraid at all at the time although I do not even have any friend at all or known here.

What I can said is that, throughout the year, things just happening on and on. Laughs, tears, happy, sad, stress and etc. I count myself very lucky as God actually love me very much, yes I know He do. I remember when I was a kid, a quote from an actress engraves my heart and mind. She says, human beings are just like a statue of God. When we met challenges and obstacles, it is not when God does not love nor abandone us, but He is trying to make us more perfect like carving the statue to make it nicer. Such a sentence actually makes me a positive thinker. No matter what happen, I can cope well with those challenges. Well, of course I can hardly control my emotions from getting angry or unhappy at times, but I will try to calm myself and talk to my buddies or Him instead. I can never forgot how good and wonderful listener He is, His power can heal every pain and cuts of mine without my knowledge.
I am happy that I met my buddies here. Of course I still very much appreciate old friends that have rooted in my heart long time ago, especially schoolmates during secondary school! Here, I met buddies that we can talk together, shop together, eat together, laugh together, fight together, cook together, gossip together even... I have learnt, learn to love my friends, learn to care, learn to forgive, learn to accept... When they are happy, I will as well feel happy. When they are sad or facing any problem, I will as well feel the same, but even heartache if a friend does not let you know it's feel, guess that's what would be a real and good friend feel, right? But, I know, no matter how close we are, the size of the earth will set us apart sooner or later. So, just appreciate every moment we share together. Live the life to the fullest. Friendship forever = keep your friends in your heart forever.
    forever friends

    Chinese New Year 2008

For me, blog is the space where I think I can manage to keep my beautiful and precious memory for a long long time.
Proudly presenting the celebration of Chinese New Year 2008 -- Rat Year with my whole family. I have a very happy moment celebrating a couple of days of Chinese New Year with my family. A house that full of 12 family members' laughs fill up the air with love and warmth.
On Chinese New Year Eve, we burnt the fire cracker before we start our reunion dinner, hoping to get a good fortune throughout the year perhaps. After the dinner, can't wait to join my brother and my brothers in law to burn the fireworks which I like crazily. Starting from 11.30 p.m till 1.00 a.m, holding my sister's camera, taking lots of pictures until-- memory full.
Same a years before, the first thing we always done on the first day of Chinese New Year is, going to church. After mass, went back home to wait and serve the guests coming over until only by evening we start our 'ang pau collecting' Wink.
But as I can see, the earth is turning his back from sun again for moon so quickly everyday, time again for them to leave. On the fifth day of Chinese New Year, except my 3rd sister, all other fly back to Singapore. Not only the house fill up with loneliness, but my heart as well, missing the cries and laughs of eveyone of them. I really appreciate the every second I spend with my family especially this year what more to say I was not at home for Chinese New Year last year. The first thing I always thank God is providing me with such a wonderful family. Red heart

My third visit to Singapore of 2007

Without realizing it, this is my third visit to Singapore in 2007. I can still refresh my memory; the first visit is to take care of my pregnant eldest sister who has given birth at the third day of Chinese New Year; the second visit is to become the godmother of the little one and the third is to celebrate the joyous celebration- Christmas with my entire family.

I remember on the first day once I arrived at the arrival hall (as I traveled alone), I can see clearly that my mother, my sister, my brother and my niece were waiting for me outside the hall. After claiming my luggage, we started our journey back to Singapore.

As my eldest sister would move from Commonwealth to Simei which is quite far away from the central on the third day, I knew that I am going to miss the food and the place there. Being like a hungry bear, I started to grab and eat crazily on the second day. (I’m scary, huh??)

Helping my sister to tidy up her new house which is much bigger and comfortable compare to the previous one, we have to pick up the new life style there- Simei (the four beauties). Of course, the miss of the old house in Commonwealth is unwipeable. At Simei, we have to take bus to Tampines to go to our church to attend mass-the Holy Trinity church. Miss the church in Commonwealth as it is only a few walk away from my sister’s previous house.

After everything has settled, it’s enjoyed moment. My sister brings my mother and I, together with my two niece to go for walk and shopping. Over the weekend, we gather with my brother and my second sister with her family as well for meals. It was such precious moment for all of us to be together as they have been working throughout the weekend.

Bicycling along the beach I enjoyed the most, even my little niece who’s not even one year old. After trapping in the buzzing city for long time, feel nice and good to take a break and enjoy the melody of the waves. On the following weekend, we went to East coast- Wild Wild Wet. A water fun resort which kids and adults can enjoy themselves wetly. Another good and enjoyable moment that I actually caught sun burnt. After the water fun, we went for a buffet lunch at a Thai restaurant.

That simply describes a bit about what have I gone through throughout the month of December besides from celebrating the birthday of my brother and my second brother in law as well.

On Christmas day, the happiest day for me, after been so many years, my family members were all there eventually. My father, mother, eldest brother in law, eldest sister, brother, second brother in law, second sister, third sister, eldest niece, second niece, youngest niece and two of my cousins as well. Gathered all at my eldest sister’s house, waiting for the three princesses to find out all the presents they had received that morning. Only then we move to Sakura Japanese Restaurant for a buffet lunch. All of us enjoyed very much for the meal which then we have the Christmas cake at my second sister’s house that evening. Thank God for giving me a happy family, although we are not together physically, may the chain of love between us become greater and greater.

The day after Christmas, dad, mum and I left Singapore. Again, my brother drove us to Senai. There, we met my future third brother in law and his family for lunch at a nice and resort nearby. Nice to meet them all.

Arrived Sibu at about 5.15 p.m. where I can see rains welcoming us. The flight was a bit unsmooth but praise to the Lord we have landed safely. Poor Sibu must have caught flu and cold due to the flood then.

I was looking forward for their coming back home during Chinese New Year 2008!! God bless my family. Love them all!!

    23 November

    Praise to the Lord!!

Finally, we have finished our final exam for foundation.
It was quite a torturing during the week before the exam week (Revision week). Being proud of myself for I have planned my study timetable throughout the week, I have caught into fever and cough. I have wasted my 2 precious days on the bed. Instead of packing my time with lots of notes and revision materials, I need to pack myself in the blanket. But what makes me glad is those around me, those who knew that I am not feeling well, my family and my friends. Thanks for their concerns and prayers.
I started to feel unwell again right after the exam, what makes me relief is that I was okay throughout the 3 and the half days of examination. I was only feeling unwell before the exam and right after the exam. Praise to the Lord that He answer my prayers.

    Famine 30 2007

It was finally the arrival of the day--famine 30!!
By having only a bowl of porridge at 9.30 a.m, we proceed to the indoor stadium of Miri. It was quite fun for the events and programmes organized. Concerts, dancings, video clips, bidding, songs dedication and et cetera.
Been arranged in group 10, having 17 group members, we started to know each other and quite happy with our group leader. Actually at the begining, kind of worry that I might not be able to make it. No food, no bathing somemore. But... I did it!
I have learnt a lot of things during the camp. Knowing there are many poor children which do not afford the basic needs. It touches me about the sufferings they have to go through. No education, no proper shelther and even food. Only tears can we see on their face, how can we expect laughes on their cheeks? We are actually sent by God to help these people. Sometimes, it was really painful to see why there are so many rich people which can help many who lives in poverty, and yet they seldom or never do so. Like what is going on in this planet is that, there are the same numbers between those who's overweight and those who's underweight due to poverty. It is very sad indeed to see children who survive without hope. 30 hours famine does not really make us to experience what those poors experience, as most of them survive without food for more than 30 hours.
Recall back last night, in the stadium, many of us hardly to fall asleep due to the low temperature. It was very cold indeed. In the afternoon, we started to get weak after fasting for more than 24 hours. But I am very glad of myself and all those who participate in the camp for all of us have successfully complete the task. Yeppy!!

    我18岁生日

It was my birthday yesterday- 14th  September! My good friends in Miri here have planned a plain but happy enough for me. On the very 1st minute of 14th Sept, after I have flossed, brushed my teeth, washed my face and even put on my pyjamas, they suddenly swicthed off the light and the fan.
Surrounded with the melody of Happy Birthday, a piece of chocolate with a candle on the top was brought into my bedroom. A bit suprise but not very...
Fed by my good friend, Mei Mei with the sweet and delicious cake. Even had the 'make up' with the chocolate on the spoon on my cheek the naughty boy. haha...
At the very last minutes of my birthday which was almost the end of my 18th birthday, together with them, we went up to the Kanada Hill of Miri. Asking me to close up my eyes, I received a present ~
Not the present that touches me, but the words on the card they have written. Words came from their sincere heart...thank you all of you
Not only friends in Miri who celebrate birthday of mine, my friends in Sibu, KL, Australia and even in America who did not forget my birthday (thanks to friendster's reminder, haha).
Thanks to my mummy, called so early in the morning when i'm still on the bed. My sisters as well, who  has never forget my birthday.

    Our interview at Marriott Hotel

This morning, I am kinna worry if the conducting of the interview could be make today. I've waited for the PR manager to do us a favour-making an appoinment with the general manager. But, the general manager couldn't make it to have the interview session with us. Luckily, the PR manager offer to help us. So, everything goes smooth as we planned. What makes me happy is that I can go back home without worries tomorrow. Thank God!!!!!

    PreU Camp of Curtin 2007

    Date: 17-18th August 2007 (Fri-Sat)
Venue: Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Campus

That's the camp I have joined. This camp was only opened for foundation semester 2 students.
Mei Mei, Tien Tien, Janet & I have joined the camp. . Discovered that majority of the students participated are engineering students. I wonder why...
On the moment we registered, we were given a small piece of paper folded & stapled. Mei Mei & Tien Tien had chosen the same size of black dot (group arranged based on different size of dots). Janet & I were given the different size of dots. Without any delay, I rushed to the computer lab & created the dot exactly the same with Mei Mei & Tien Tien. Haha, only now I dare to confess that I have been breaking the rules. But nevermind lar...hehehe...
Make 3 new friends. Adrian, Kenny & Shan Shan. 3 of them are engineering students. Overall our group have 6 members. Adrian was nominated to become the leader. We have created a funny & cute name for our group--BOM BOM 6. I am the BOM BOM 1!!
There were a number of activities carried out throughout the camp. One of them was the invention of a product that may help in the global issue. We have taken the issue of the lack of petroleum. Again, we came up with a funny idea-- UREA CONVERTER. A machine attached to an airplane that collects the urea and converted them to the gas that can replace the function of the kerosine.
After the presentation, Shan Shan & Adrian left before the whole session last. Suprisingly, we got the 1st position among all those 10 groups. Hahaha... So unexpected & happy. Thanks to all the group members for the participation, especially the one who present--Adrian.

It's been few weeks since we move to our 'new house' in Miri. Within these few weeks, we can see the disappointment among my housemates and I.
Room without air flowing nor sunlight, burnt fius, broken pipe, leaking tape, spoilt bulb....... ants....... lizards....... mosquitoes....... many many kinds of bugs.......
Kind of disappointed with the owner of the house, the agent which we depend so much and rely on them.
But thanks to Lord that all these has make us grown. We are no longer the children who will call and complain to the adults. We can depend on ourself. We have learnt to be independent!!
